about sophie spratley
Sophie Spratley is the founder and designer of rabbit, a whimsical womenswear brand that appeals to your inner child. She grew up in a rural town called Marlow on the river Thames. Her memories of home include playing in the forest, climbing trees as a child, and as an adult going to the allotment with her Mum.
Currently she’s based in Bristol enjoying an escape from the huge city of London where she studied and began work in. Sophie graduated from Kingston School of Art in 2021, the next year Dover Street Market London launched her first collection.
Rabbit creates pieces that have the quality and ethereal beauty of vintage garments, already imbued with their own history. The brand champions the art of handcraft. Inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement her grandfather studied, she favours techniques powered by the body including screen printing, crochet and domestic knitting.
Rabbit knitwear is produced by a small team of UK based freelancers and Sophie herself. Rabbit dresses are produced by two tiny ateliers - one 10 minutes from her home in Bristol and another an hours long drive into the leafy countryside.
